Mobile Personal Injury Attorneys, J. Allan Brown, Ty Brown and Roger Lucas Win a $4.5 Million Jury Verdict
A Mobile County jury awarded a family $4,500,000 in a medical malpractice case late yesterday. The case was tried by Law Office of J. Allan Brown attorneys, Allan Brown and Joseph McGowin and Marsh, Rickard & Bryan attorneys, Ty Brown and Roger Lucas.
The case grew out of the death of 56-year-old Cecil Thomas who suffered a serious allergic reaction to contrast while undergoing a routine MRI at the Coastal Neurological Institute. The case focused on the staff’s failure to respond quickly enough to Mr. Thomas’ reaction and to administer life-saving medicine. The event occurred on June 18,2008.
Attorneys for Coastal Neurological Institute defended the case by offering evidence that Mr. Thomas did not die from anaphylaxis, but rather from a cardiac event.
In his closing arguments to the jury, attorney Ty Brown said, “This family has been looking for answers to why Mr. Thomas had to die for six years and they deserve justice”. He feels that the jury, who sat through two weeks of testimony and deliberated nearly three hours, did deliver a just verdict.
